When it involves collecting, probably the most exciting things you can choose to collect are cannabis seeds. These controversial little beans are one of the most genetically engineered organic products available, probably only slightly behind roses. The amazing characteristics together with the sheer amount of different strains of seed available make them the most interesting & most daunting collections to begin.
One of the quests some collectors undertake would be to try to find their perfect cannabis seed. Every different strain holds a different set of attributes that will combine to offer you an ideal seed that matches your taste. Here is what to look for…
THC
THC stands for ‘Tetrahydrocannabinol’. This is actually the main psychoactive component found in a fully grown cannabis plant so when you look for seeds you will see the THC percentage listed. While alien labs won’t contain any actual THC, every strain has been made to reliably produce a plant that may have this level of THC. If you are lucky enough to live in a country where growing cannabis is legal you will be able to test it out. If you’re not, you will have to make do together with your perfect seed having the potential to produce certain degrees of THC.
Yield
Another thing you could find out about your cannabis seed is just how much cannabis it could make if it were legal to cultivate it. Yield is generally measured in grams and is exercised by the common yield found by the breeder. If you want to know your seed could create a high yield this is an attribute you could look at.
Strain
Choosing a strain isn’t just about the vital statistics though. You find fairly similar THC and yield levels on different cannabis seeds so you need to pick a strain you like. A sensible way to do this is to look at ones that have won legitimate awards for quality. Probably the most prestigious of which is obviously the High Times Cannabis Cup. Every year they judge what seed bank and what individual cannabis seed is the best of the year. Feminized seeds are probably probably the most de rigueur right now.
